The Alex Theory on Stony Brook Architecture.
by "Alex"

I have a theory on the architectural design of virtually every building on the Stony Brook campus. Here goes. If you look at almost any building on campus you might notice that it is usually made up of 2 boxes, and some kind of tunnel connection the two different sized boxes. Now lets get into examples, starting from one end of the campus.

  • Physics building: 2 boxes and a tunnel,
  • Harriman Hall: 2 boxes joined together,
  • Old Chem: 2 boxes joined together by a little tunnel,
  • Melville Library: 2 boxes (yet again) joined by a tunnel,
  • Staller Center (do I have to say it again?).

I think people can see my point. For some reason this makes me think the architect of every building got drunk the day before he had his presentation, lost his model, and in the morning hung over drank two boxes of milk and decided that that will be the design he will present. Not a very stimulating campus I would say, at least to any artists. There are a few buildings on campus that don't conform to my theory. I propose the name for this theory be named after me and be formally called The Alex Theory on Stony Brook Architecture.
