I was a typical warm [-25 degree] day at stony brook. As we watched
the other students walk around in their nice warm sweats, we wondered
again why we were doing this. When we got returning glances from
the sweater-clad, we had our answer. In my blue bikini, inner
tube, sunglasses and beach towel, with my step brother in his
swimming trunks and matching tube, we were bound to turn heads.
But we were on a very important mission: to make everyone's day
a little more surreal.
We got a great public response- we had a guy say "Now, I've
seen it all!" and a bunch of asian faculty that muttered
and agave us rather nasty looks. Hey, I saw no :"No Swimming"
sign, so you just keep walking pal. For the most part, people
would crack up and even talk to us for a bit. It was great making
people smile- I think they all needed a break from the regular
routine of cold weather and a clean Wang Center fountain.
We got to float around in the fountain at the bottom of the steps
leading to the Wang center for a good while before the police
came. She was laughing really hard and said "I just want
to know, Why??" we talked to her for a good 20 minutes before
she wrote us up. Luckily, we were able to keep our real selves
out of serious trouble. Even if one day the CIA tracks us down,
it will have been worth it, and they probably just want to laugh
with us, anyway.
